Poncho day

Here it is! Day 30; the next to last day of January’s 'Take one, pass it on' remix challenge, and I repeated these riding boots from yesterday.

Lounge wear

Tuesday was the day after a big blizzard, which meant a stay home and relax day. It also gave me one more chance for an indoor version of the 'Take one, pass it on challenge'. The only things I was able to use from yesterday's outfit was a black 'pop-art' sweater. I wore it with slippers and lounge joggers.

Fur and leather

Today for the 'Take one, pass it on' challenge the repeat item was a fur vest. You can read about this challenge here.
I took these photos as a blizzard was just starting, so all of those white spots are snowflakes.
My camera is not good enough to show the details of my black outfit, but I hope you can still see them. I wore a black military jacket and vest, a black turtleneck sweater, black leather pants and socks, with a black purse and gloves...does this remind you of scary stories about a dark, dark room?...but actually I think my outfit is very cute and no so scary.

Fair Isle Sweater

Like last week, I'm posting outfits for two days - Saturday & Sunday.
The repeat item from Friday to Saturday was a white, button down shirt. It was a snowy day so I just took pics of my indoor clothing. Actually, on a casual, home outfit, instead of a button down shirt I would wear a long-sleeve tee, but a challenge is a challenge so since I was supposed  to wear one item from the previous day I picked the shirt.

Winter White

The repeat item from my last outfit is the quilted jacket.

Masculine Meets Feminine

The repeat item from my last outfit is the pants. (Read more about the 'Take One, Pass it On' challenge here.)
Mostly, I wore these pants with my menswear inspired outfits that can be seen here, but this time I tried to make it more feminine.
In this outfit I went to my father-in-law's birthday.

Classic Jacket

Same as my last  post here, I'm posting outfits for two days - Monday & Tuesday.
The repeat item from Sunday to Monday was a pair of socks.

70s vibe

Same as last Sunday I'm posting outfits for two days - Saturday & Sunday.
As you can see from the previous day's clothing, I have another knit coat, but this one has a more boho vibe. I don't wear it too often...and the repeat item from Friday to Saturday was a blanket scarf.

Knit-on-Knit

If you are thinking that in today's outfit I have repeated two items: sunglasses and knit coat, that you're wrong! Yesterday's outfit had pink rim glasses and today's are blue.

Knit Wit

All those days I missed my knitted coat. Last year it was my most popular to-go outerwear item....so you’ll see it again tomorrow!
Today, same as yesterday, I didn't feel like repeating and remixing any noticeable thing so the repeat item from my last outfit is the hat. Check out how I wore it yesterday.

A Small Step

Have you noticed my repeat item of the day? It's really just a small detail at this time. See yesterday's post to figure it out!
OK, I will not torture you. This detail is the necklace! It's a kind of an excuse, but there wasn't anything else I felt like repeating and remixing.

Something bright

The repeat item from my last outfit is the trench coat! Read more about the Take One, Pass it On challenge here.

The Art of Layering

Making the perfect layered outfit is a little bit like preparing a delicious dish - there are multiple ingredients involved, and you have to get the proportions just right.
So for amazing layering results we need the same “recipes”, with the right  ingredients and the right proportions.
Today, for 'Take one, pass it on challenge' (if you’re wondering what it is, read about the remix challenge here), I tried to prepare a complicated 'dish' with a trench coat. + quilted vest + leopard cardigan, which I added under a plaid button down shirt. This clothing not only keep me warm,  but also display the contrasting prints and textures.
I liked the result...I hope you like it too!

Nostalgia & more

This time I'm posting outfits for two days - Saturday & Sunday.
For Saturday the repeat item for 'Take one, pass it on challenge' was a white hoodie.
This outfit reminds me of our trip to Istanbul for Valentine's day (it was the first joint trip for me and husband). Our luggage was lost and the only things that I had were a fur coat, jeans and a hoodie. Instead of heel boots that I am wearing here I wore shoes similar to sneakers.

Snow trend: Hit the Slopes

As you probably know from my previous posts, the entire East Coast has been enduring a cold front, and with the chilly weather we also got snow today. So choosing clothes and getting dressed  for 'Take one, pass it on challenge' became less & less about what I wanted to wear and more & more about just piling on layers to keep warm.
Today's repeat piece was a pair of corduroy pant, and for layers I added a ski/snowboarding jacket and hoodie...layers that can't be seen and are known only to mе.
I'm absolutely not a ski or snowboard  person. The closest I get to being a winter daredevil is to rock my ski jacket and snowplow my way down the bunny hill.

Double portion of corduroy

Seriously…it's so cold outside (single digits), that after spending 5 minutes outdoors taking outfit photos, my eyes were full of frosty tears...
so yesterday’s corduroy Sherpa trucker jacket was back today for the 'Take One, Pass it On' remix. I call this kind of jacket an 'inside-out fur', so it's pretty warm.
I want to make a point, today I doubled my corduroy portion and wore a jacket and pants made from this fabric. It's kind of strange that both jeans and cord-pants usually are made from cotton, but with the cords I feel much warmer then in jeans. Don't you feel the same way?

Baby it's cold outside

After a few sick days that I spent at home, today I finally went out from the house...and it's Brrrr cold outside, so I sang 'Baby it's Cold Outside' to myself.

My remixed item for the day 7 'Take One, Pass it On challenge' was a side-slit sweater from Zara.
If you’re trying to figure out what’s going on, read about the remix challenge here.

A fact of life

You know - Man proposes, God disposes.
So I was planning to post in my blog the 'Take One, Pass it On' (if you’re wondering what it is, read about the remix challenge here) outfits every day, but I got sick, my throat felt like it was scratched by a hundred cats and my head was ready to fly apart into pieces.
For most of the entire day 5 of the 'Take One, Pass it On' challenge I spent in bed with a cup of hot tea, but as a real blogger-narcissist I've decided not to leave the challenge and continue the game in the difficult circumstances...so I was really tricky those days. For day 5 the repeat item from my last outfit was slippers.

Inspiration Monday and more

My remixed item for the day 3 'Take One, Pass it On challenge' was a pair of black jeggings.
If you’re trying to figure out what’s going on, read about the remix challenge here

Also, the outfit of that day was based on the Nicole Richie's photo that Two Birds picked for Inspiration Monday.
It's hard to believe, but an hour after taking this shot, the ground was covered with an inch of snow.

Take One, Pass it On: day 2

Yesterday, while lying in bed at night and thinking about today's outfit, I suddenly realized that the 'Take One, Pass it On' challenge is definitely a challenge, since in real life I almost never reuse only one item when choosing the next day's outfit. I either radically change the whole style for my next day garb, or keep two-three things from the previous outfit and replace only one.
I had a strong urge to leave the same boots, hoodie and cords for today's outfit, and replace only a vest with a jacket, and swap one turtleneck with another turtleneck sweater...but I resisted!.. so I’m repeating just my hoodie.
Besides, I found a blog where I first saw this challenge..and I'll tell you that the blogger has a great sense of fashion (maybe not in putting things together), but once she used her repeat item, she didn't wear it again for weeks.

Fresh Start

Happy New Year to all of my readers!

What is one thing we all do to start the new year? Make resolutions! We all look at a new year as a new start. We all say things like “this year I am going to….”
About two years ago I saw a wardrobe challenge somewhere called something like 'Take One, Pass it On'. It had rules such as 'wear an outfit one day, and the next day take one piece from it (jewelry and shoes included) and wear it again'. It gave more flexibility and options than the very popular '30x30 remix & restyle challenge', where you are strictly limited to only 30 items. By the way, it's not too easy to pick the 30 items.
'Take One, Pass it On' involves less planning, which is always a plus in my case, because in my mind I have so many clothes mixing ideas that I never know which one to use next...(Oops! Maybe I picked the wrong challenge for boring winter time - maybe the limit number of ideas would bring me more benefits...I'll see next time what kind of challenge would work better for me).
Anyway, this time I'm taking the easy way and starting the year 2015 with a fun wardrobe game.
I don't know about other people, but Russians believe that you will spend the rest of your year the way you started it! So I believe the new year will be fun!

Here's my New Year's Eve outfit

What I'm wearing:
skirt - Self made, sweater - Banana Republic, shoes - Nine West, necklace - Made by my mom
