'Mad' about the 60-s - Megan
This week was dedicated to Megan Draper - the most stylish character of this series.
This is the only character we have often seen in pants - and those pants are not like Betty's pants. They vary significantly in terms of style.
Besides the fact that in recent seasons she is a prominent representative of boho-chic, she also displays a nice casual looks, with clothes like what we may have in our wardrobe, like tank tops, for example.(now it's difficult to imagine summer living without tank tops; in the past we wore them like undershirts).
So here is a few of Megan's recreations.
First - here Megan looks more like a person from the 70's, not the 60's.

Peplum top + shorts
When I bought a peplum top I thought I would wear it with a lot of items from my wardrobe, but in reality it wouldn't work as I assumed because, despite the natural color, the top has a neon orange rim on the armholes and neck line. So often it's the main reason why I have doubts wearing it...maybe I'm too picky.
Last time I showed this peplum top with neon orange skinny jeans.
For our friend's daughter's graduation party on Saturday I wore this top with a jacquard shorts in natural color, plus a statement necklace that has some neon orange elements.
It's really funny because more than a month ago I wore the same shorts to a party for another friend's daughter's graduation.

'Mad' about the 60-s - Peggy Olsen
This week was dedicated to Peggy Olsen style.
At least for me, she is one of the most difficult characters for re-creating, especially when I look at her costumes from the first seasons, where she looks like some naive, ridiculous schoolgirl trying on outdated stuff from her mother's wardrobe. Modest and discreetly hiding her femininity in a "grandma dress" / skirt / blouse plus earthy colors and baby bangs adds up to a tricky set for a person like me who has nothing in common with Peggy.
In general, it's amazing how a person who is working in a creative environment stays so stylistically boring, clumsy & awkward,. even in the best of her dresses.
For me it turned out to be the easiest way to use these two images: the left - when Peggy was able to take off on her career zenith and right - at the beginning of her climb up the career ladder. In my mind there was one idea - one item (my white vest) may differentiate a boss and a subordinate, I hope I did it :)

'Mad' about the 60-s - Betty
Sometimes I want to dress like some movie characters, but actually rarely put this desire to reality.
So this month I want to challenge myself to finally follow my dream.
I'm starting this movie characters challenge and beginning with the interesting female characters of "Mad Men".Opening the season with Betty Draper. I used her style from the early seasons.

Sporty-chic VS Boho-chic
Based on Fall Fashion Shows 2013/14 the sporty-chic or luxe-sport trend has been our focus style. So we will mix comfort and style; I mean we will mix sporty pieces like a baseball hat, a varsity jacket or sneakers with other chic pieces like a little black dress or pencil skirt, or a pair of leather pants.
But who are we if we forget our old friend, the boho trend?
So here I want to show how on the same base as the cami tee, oversize tee and almost track pants, I made both sporty and boho outfits just by changing the style of sandals and the hat.
Which do you like more?

The loose drapery style
I brought this striped top home from Japan, where I visited about five years ago. I really love the unique fit and style of this top - the drape and stripes combination provides an unusual look. I think I'll miss this Japanese style top when it's time runs out and it'll be thrown in the trash.
Actually, during most summers I wore this top just with shorts, but this time I decided to wear it with a maxi-dress. So it's something new for me. I think it has an even more Japanese look this way.

Summer Challenge: Day # 16
This challenge is near the end! There are just five outfits left! Here's my short, striped skirt version of the OOTD. For a more nautical vibe I added my sandals; their straps look like a marine rope. Also, I wore my souvenir tank- top from a Block Island vacation.

Summer Challenge: Day # 11
Continuing on with 'Summer Style Me Pretty Challenge'. We've finally reached the halfway point. So for today we must to wear printed shorts or pants with a bright top but instead of the wedges we need to add sneakers (if you don't see the entire collage it will look like déjà vu of day # 4),
I think, for past two years, this is one of my favorite summer and beach vacations outfits.
I love everything about it. It is not boring because it has a fun pattern and a delicious orange color. Also, it has a relaxing fit (with fabrics lightly touching your skin) that is important for places with hot and humid weather. So, my feeling is that nothing can be better than this!

Summer Challenge: Day # 6
For day # 6 'Style Me Pretty Summer Challenge' we must wear khaki shorts or pants with a bright top and add wedges. Also, accessories to it with your own touches that will reflect your personality.
So this is my today's outfit. I wore it for a birthday/graduation party for our friend's daughter.

Summer Challeng e: Day # 5 - Two Ways to Style a Kimono
For day # 5 'Style Me Pretty Summer Challenge' we must wear a printed top with denim shorts and add metallic sandals.
Watch what I got. I really love my boho-chic look.
I styled my kimono two ways and I'm happy about both of them. Here I just flipped the kimono backwards.

Summer Challenge: Day # 4
For day # 4 'Style Me Pretty Summer Challenge' we must wear printed shorts or pants with a solid top and add wedges. The hardest part of this day challenge is to wear a fedora hat in public. I think it's much easier to wear the hat when you are on a beach vacation or resting near the pool, or even gardening. besides these scenarios you may feel silly; as we're not in the fifties when these hats were commonplace.
For those who are reading my blog, you probably already saw this outfit in the post about my vacation, but in those shots there was no fedora hat and no wedges
I really don't like a slim fit for anything, whether it's a top or shorts. So I'm buying them one size larger to get a loose fit. In my opinion,a loose fit is more comfortable and more complementary for any age and size. Don't judge me if you have different thoughts on this.

Summer Challenge: Day #3
For day #3 'Style Me Pretty Summer Challenge' we are going with a classic simple outfit and must wear a printed top + khaki shorts +a long necklace + metallic sandals ( (if it's for work wear: a printed blouse + khaki pants + a long necklace + metallic or neutral flats).
So this is my outfit for today: I wore The Limited (I couldn't believe I won their gift card); very cute patterned khaki shorts and a striped top.
Also, I tried to put the white blouse (from the first day of 'Summer Challenge') over the striped top as a vest. I think I felt like I needed a little bit of jazz to this look; it's kind of a plain look without the white blouse.

Summer Challenge: Day #1
Yesterday I started the 'Style Me Pretty Summer Challenge' that came from Alison Lumbatis.
So for Day #1 we are going with a very plain look and must wear a white t-shirt + bright shorts + statement earrings + metallic sandals (if it's work wear, change it for a white blouse + bright ankle pants + statement earrings + neutral heels).
My white t-shirt has not been delivered yet so I wore my old sleeveless blouse and pants instead of shorts.
Also, I couldn't spice up my outfit with any earrings because I don't wear them at all. I just added a braided belt and a butterfly necklace.
