I found that for some reason I couldn't reply to a comment on my own blog. My reply button just disappeared. I want to let you know that I always appreciate the time out of your day forvisiting my blog and every comment that you leave here. I can't thank you enough,
This week some of my friends from the mainland visited us here in Hawaii, so we did some touristy stuff. This is the striped dress with lemon-lime side panels that I wore for the day that we spend at the Polynesian Cultural Center. Before the Polynesian Cultural Center we made a quick stop at the beautiful Byodo-in Temple.
First week of 2016. I’ve made a footwear wish list, of my most desired shoes for the coming year. My choice was based on current fashion trends and of course practical considerations of the items. So I want some new sneakers, mule, something silver, something with fringe and something futuristic looking...bursting my closet!!!
Since Christmas is just around the corner, this week I decided to wear some outfits that have Christmas spirit. I found that it's not too easy when the weather outside is 80 degrees F (27 degrees C) and you don't have any ugly sweaters:)
On Sunday I wore a top with silver snowflakes on it.
Shop similar style:
top- American Eagle [ similar ] // jeans - Dsquared2 (old) [ similar ] // sandals - Tommy Hilfiger [ exact ] // bag - Lucky Brand [ similar ]
This time I tried to mix clothing that came from different worlds.
The classic blue-striped cotton button down dress shirt was borrowed from the sleek and clean look of an up scale male. Now as fashionistas for destroyed and ripped jeans we can pay big money, but the jeans still arrive as though they experienced all nine of Dante's circles of hell.
If you want to find a cool backdrop for you photos in Honolulu just walk thru Kaka'ako industrial area - it's near Ward Warehouse shopping center - and you can find murals and graffiti art for any taste. During the past five years over a hundred local and international artists worked on Kaka'ako's walls, splashing color and beauty into the neighborhood with the annual Pow! Wow! festival.
Trying to come back to blogger duty. As you probably know from my previous posts, we have packed and moved to Hawaii and now we are trying to set up our life here. I still can't to do photos of my outfits at different angles, but this week at least I tried to take phone pics. I gave myself a challenge and wore only dresses all week.
It's a really busy time for us.We needed to do a lot of things because we are moving to Hawaii. I didn't have the time and opportunity to take any fashion pictures...actually I wore the same t-shirt, shorts and sandals almost all month because we rented our house out and are living in my brother-in-law's basement. Also, most of our stuff was packed and prepared for shipping to Hawaii at any moment.
I don't think I'll be able to do any posting for next month either...but I'll be back as soon as possible.
Purely by accident, I found this draped dress and I'm pretty sure that the design was inspired by chiton clothing - the oldest Greek garments that have survived for centuries. Greek clothing was very simple yet elegant, and always displayed a spectacular look - with elaborate drapes and pleats at the waistline and below the neckline. Such drapes add a soft touch to the outfit and give a more feminine appearance.
When I tried on this Greek-style dress my first thought was to make a total Greek goddess look. So another ancient Greek element, airy and comfortable gladiator sandals, came in handy. For the complete ancient Greece look I rolled my hair into my headband.
I don't know, something touched my heart when I saw this Dolce&Gabbana Pre-Fall 2015-16 in blue and white Mediterranean majolica ceramics print. Isn't it reminiscent of the summer sky and the crystalline waters?
Of course I wanted to get something like this, but their dresses are way above my budget- so I'll just say, "necessity is the mother of invention"? I decided to mix my 'MILLY for Target' top and this summer's forgotten skirt.
What do you think, does this combo work?
Because of the silver embroidery detail on the hem this dress is kind of hard to wear in the daytime. Even with simple heels and wedges this dress looks too dressy. So during the day I try to pick shoes that are as different as possible from my formal footwear.
Last time for Inspiration Monday I used the same photo of Kate Hudson, only I wore my vest with a bright pair of jeans. This time (as I promised) I mixed my tweed vest with distressed jeans...and I'm thinking that I love this look even more than the previous look
