I'll be back as soon as possible

It's a really busy time for us.We needed to do a lot of things because we are moving to Hawaii. I didn't have the time and opportunity to take any fashion pictures...actually I wore the same t-shirt, shorts and sandals almost all month because we rented our house out and are living in my brother-in-law's basement. Also, most of our stuff was packed and prepared for shipping to Hawaii at any moment.
I don't think I'll be able to do any posting for next month either...but I'll be back as soon as possible.

Inspiration Monday: Vest + Boyfriend Jeans

Last time for Inspiration Monday I used the same photo of Kate Hudson, only I wore my vest with a bright pair of jeans. This time (as I promised) I mixed my tweed vest with distressed jeans...and I'm thinking that I love this look even more than the previous look

Side-Slit Dress with Wide Pants

I love my relatively new zippered side-slit dress...I mean, is it a dress, a tunic, or both? Now that we’re getting a few chillier days, I took full advantage of unzipping the extra high slit and wearing the dress as a tunic with a pair of wide legs pants. If you want to see how I wore this dress as a dress you can check this post.

Inspiration Monday: Vest + Tank Top

This time for Inspiration Monday I'm going with Kate Hudson in a red vest paired with distressed jeans. This outfit caused a lot of negative comments because her saggy-ass jeans were paired with hot Christian Louboutin ‘Air Chance’ slingback pumps and a sophisticated vest. Most people don't like a mix of luxury polished and trashy items. I don't know what to say; I kind of like the combo of the opposing styles.
Anyway, I was more impressed with the vest and tank top combination.
Since I don't have any bright vests I decided to swap the colors and put on a tweed vest with neon-orange jeans. Next time (because I love the feeling that the vest covering the tank-top gave me...I didn't have to think about the bra straps crawling out of the tee!)
I would like to try a vest + tank top outfit with distressed jeans...and then I will be more confident if a classy vest can go with distressed jeans.

A Folk Sweatshirt

I'm just thinking about starting a new "all summer challenge". We will probably live in Hawaii in September, and when you are moving from a four season state in a solid-summer-all-year-round state you need to find what you actually wear the most. Since the new residence has limited  space I definitely need to cut the amount of my clothes. So this "all summer challenge" will be really hard for me, because I love to keep my old clothes in case I'd like to wear them again one day .
So I planned to start this challenge on June 1, but our weather  today is not very much like summer - it's raining and only 54 degrees...but I started this challenge anyway.

A Little Bohemian

My biggest problem as a fashionista is that I don't have a recognizable style. You know when you follow some bloggers for a long time, you can say this one is always classy and sophisticated, that one is always trendy, another one is always casually stylish, someone else is always boho or retro breezing, etc. I'm always jumping from one style to another because I just can't stand being restricted to one official style...so I make an excuse and call my "undefined" style 'artistic'. If I was a less changeable person and was able to stick to one style I'd probably choose bohemian chic.

Inspiration Monday: Striped Skirt

This time for Inspiration Monday January Jones was chosen. Can you say that the outfit of the Mad Men's star looks pretty close to the costumes of her character from the first seasons? I was inspired by her striped midi skirt, although my outfit doesn't have that late 50's or early 60's vibe. Actually, my outfit reminded me of the late 80's, when I wore culottes...now you know my secret - my striped midi skirt just hangs like a skirt, but actually it's wide pants.

Inspiration Monday: Tie a Knot

Here's Kate Hudson for today's Inspiration Monday. She is rocking the knotted shirt with light jeans.
To be honest, I especially love tied up shirts worn with skirts. For me it's kind of a weird, exposed feeling when keeping the groin area uncovered, especially in light skinny jeans.

Packing for a trip to Hawaii: What’s in my suitcase?

Aloha! I was in Hawaii for the 11 days.

So, my packing list included:
 3 tanks, 1 cami, 3 t-shirts and 2 interesting tops

Day to Night

Today I’m making a Day to Night series. This 'errands running' outfit is easy to transform into a 'night out' outfit. The burgundy color (now it's fashionable to call it 'marsala') is so trendy right now, so I just made a simple, fun outfit playing with this color. With flats this is one of my most comfy outfits.

Inspiration Monday: Printed Top

This time for Inspiration Monday I'm going with Britt Robertson. Actually, we don't have much in common with our outfits... I could say that she has a printed top and I have a printed top, but our tops have completely different prints considering fit and shape.

Cargo vest

The options to pair the cargo vest are endless. It's such a versatile item, you can rock it with a dress, skirt, pants, or shorts. You can put it over a t-shirt or button down, even layer it with wool or a leather jacket.
This is my new favorite outfit; the cargo vest with a striped, light blue button down shirt. I just love this color combination.

Inspiration Monday: Printed Pants

This time for Inspiration Monday Emma Stone was chosen . I had plans to wear this outfit on an upcoming trip to Hawaii.

Two ways of layering a shirt dress

You probably would agreed that a shirt dress can be the most comfy dress in any wardrobe. Besides the comfort, a shirt dress can be a very versatile item. You can always cinch your waist with a different type of belt or even a fabric tie...or update a basic shirt dress with on-trend accessories and it will look different.
Personally, I prefer a loose fit, so when I get tired of the simplicity of the dress I can get creative with layering.
These are just a couple of ideas to help you get a bit more wear out of your shirt dress. This time I layered my shirt dress with a plaid button down shirt (I borrowed this idea from Alice of "Happiness at Mid Life").

Inspiration Monday: Leather Pants

This time for Inspiration Monday Two Birds choose Charlize Theron in leather pants and an oversized button down shirt. So this is my version of her outfit. Don't you think that sometimes the leather pants can be a good alternative to everyday denim?

Easter time

For a few days we went to Virginia for Easter and our grandson Liam's christening. We don't see him very often so mostly we spend time with the baby and for me their wasn't time for the outfits photos...plus I forgot my camera. So just to post, here are some iPhone photos.

Old Hollywood Star Look

Kind of a mix of the 30th (jacket & wide pants)  and 50th (scarf & sunglasses) style.

Side-slit sweater

I just love how the dramatic side slits give a chic peek at whatever you pair with this sweater.

Inspiration Monday: Blazer

Our inspiration from Two Birds today is Emmanuelle Chriqui.
I tried to make my outfit close to the original...I even put shoes on (for the first time of the year). The weather is still not warm enough to go outside with only a jacket and bare feet, so I added a trench coat and scarf

Inspiration Monday: The longing for spring

Today's inspiration from Two Birds is Lea Michele. Girls already used this photo once. Last time Lea Michele's outfit inspired me for this outfit with a bright scarf and plaid shirt. More details can be seen here.

I still don't have such a cool , bulky sweater like she has, so I just made this grey outfit with my knit coat  For an imitation of her buckles I used flower brooches. They also have a second use; they call out for the blooming of spring...because the weather here is still far from desirable.

Inspiration Monday: A Hat

This time Inspiration Monday has chosen Cara Delevigne. Her black tie-scarf, black trousers and black hat have a men's inspired vibe, like many of the clothes from YSL. If you are interested in fashion  you probably know that Yves Saint Laurent created the Le Smoking tuxedo suit for ladies and pioneered minimalist, androgynous styles for women. He also pioneered the use of power suits and the pantsuit in modern-day society. (C)
I must say that my look has a more boho then men's influence, but I borrowed the burgundy color (and also the hat, which I didn't wear for a couple of months), from Cara Delevigne's outfit.

Inspiration Monday: Knit Coat & Fur Vest

This time for Inspiration Monday Two Birds gave us, Gigi Hadid. Since I don't have a thick, black, wool coat I used my grey, knit, wool coat. I wore it over a black rabbit fur vest, so I kind of look like Gigi Hadid's photo negative since she wore her grey fur vest under her black coat. I can testify that in the winter in such clothes you'll feel warm enough.

Inspiration Monday: Bootcut jeans & clogs

This time Inspiration Monday has chosen Rachel Bilson. I'd like to have a moto jacket that blue color but I have one only in brown.  It's too cold to wear it anyway because we have had one snow storm after another, so I just paired my bootcut jeans with a velvet jacket and a fur vest.

Inspiration Monday:Oversized Parka

This time for Inspiration Monday Two Birds gave us Kate Hudson, with a very cool over-sized parka, and I decided to borrow my coat from my husband's closet. Since it was so cold outside I zipped up the removable puffer jacket.

Winter floral

I planned this outfit as a Valentine's night out with my husband but the weather made us adjustment our plans, so we just relaxed and stayed home. I still want to show the photos because I think it would be a perfect outfit for Valentine's Day. Maybe I can wear it another time.
Another outfit with this skirt can be found by 'floral skirt' label.

Keeping It Simple

When your driveway has snow drifts as tall as you are the focus of the day is not which outfit to wear, so I kept it simple.
I just love how my pink turtleneck sweater coordinates with the nutmeg cords and beige jacket.
